The twenty-eighth chapter (第28花 () , twenty-eighth chapter) was first published as Episode 28 (28話 () , Episode 28) on Shonen Jump+. The chapter was published on May 29, 2016 in both Japan and America. It was followed by the twenty-ninth chapter on June 26, after a two-week break.

Megumi Nishidome and Haruto Kaguragi coincidentally meet Oto Edogawa and Tenma Hase at an amusement park. The day turns into an awkward double date, when Haruto turns it into a contest against Tenma.

Plot

At an amusement park, Oto Edogawa and Tenma Hase run into Megumi Nishidome and Haruto Kaguragi. Megumi suggests for them to turn the meeting into a double date. Oto is reluctant, but Tenma insists that "[he is] fine with it." Haruto is also not happy about the idea. Megumi whispers in his ear that he should show them "that this does [not] bother [him] in the least." Haruto is irritated by his "lousy luck", but decides to not run away. He then puts on a tough facade, telling them "I guess I don't mind".

Haruto challenges Tenma to ride the tea cups, wanting to make him "look bad". However, he only succeeds in embarrassing himself, when he suffers from motion sickness. Haruto refuses to give up and forces Tenma to go into a haunted house with him. Outside, Megumi apologizes to Oto for suggesting the double date idea. Oto incorrectly states that Haruto is behaving this way because of Eitoku's and Momonozono's rivalry. Megumi calls her "the oblivious type", before suggesting that they sit and wait for the boys.

Meanwhile, Haruto is scared by everything in the haunted house. Tenma asks him if he is "in love with Oto" and declares that he "[will not] give her up." Once they leave the haunted house, the two couples decide to head over to the Ferris wheel. Haruto, who is absentmindedly thinking about Tenma's words, accidentally gets into the same passenger car as Oto. Megumi and Tenma look upwards with confused looks on their face. Haruto finally realizes his mistake as the Ferris wheel takes them up into the sky.
