Chapter 50 (
Oto Edogawa stays by Tenma Hase's side at the hospital, after he gets stabbed. While Tenma is in surgery, Oto starts to worry about Haruto Kaguragi. She writes him a note and asks a cab driver to take it to Haruto at Shijo Ohashi Bridge.
Haruto Kaguragi is still waiting for Oto Edogawa at Shijo Ohashi Bridge. He has been waiting for several hours and wonders aloud, "what is she doing?" Meanwhile, the three perpetrators, one of which stabbed Tenma Hase, run off in a panic. Tenma tries to calm Oto by assuring her that he is fine. An ambulance arrives shortly. Oto agrees to ride along to the hospital, but Tenma attempts to convince her otherwise. She tells him "did you think I was the type of person, who would leave you in this situation?!"
The ambulance passes near the bridge, where Haruto continues his vigil. He plans to call his by her given name, "when she gets here." A couple of girls ask if he is waiting for his girlfriend. His answer is "she [is] not yet". He silently asks Oto to "hurry up." At the hospital, Oto waits for Tenma's surgery to be over. She hopes Haruto has gone home already, but begins to worry when it starts raining outside. Oto writes him a note and asks a cab driver to deliver it to a boy with a khaki jacket.
After Tenma's surgery, the nurse does not answer Oto's question about whether it went well. She then tells Oto that his parents are currently flying in from Tokyo. Oto finds this odd, but only asks if she can see Tenma. In his room, he informs Oto that has no feeling in his right hand. Meanwhile, the cab driver is having are hard time seeing due to the rain. He sees someone with a persimmon (kaki) jacket and gives him the note. The guy has no idea what the note means and heads to the train station with his friend as they pass by Haruto.
