Dong Shan Cai stands up for Li Zhen when she accidentally angers the F4's leader Dao Ming Si. Her classmates then start to bully her, prompting Shan Cai to declare war on the F4. Si becomes interested in her, so he kidnaps and asks her to be his girlfriend. She refuses to be bought.
Shan Cai develops a crush on Hua Ze Lei, whose first love Teng Tang Jing has returned from France. Later, Shan Cai's childhood friend Chen Qing He transfer to her school, which makes Si jealous. He then sends Qing He a red card, unleashing a wave of bullying on the pair. Lei protects Shan Cai, which causes Si to sever their friendship.
Shan Cai and Qing He go on a cruise together, instead of the school trip. She is horrified to find that Si has commandeered the ship. Things start to look up until she accidentally kisses Si. Back at school, Si attacks Shan Cai after seeing a video of her and Lei. He stops once she starts to cry.
At Jing's birthday party, she announces her plans to return to France. Lei is devastated so Shan Cai unsuccessfully tries to convince Jing to stay. She later encourages him to follow Jing, which he does. Si later asks Shan Cai on a date but she does not believe him. She arrives hours late and then they are trapped in a stairwell.
Life changes drastically now that the school thinks Shan Cai and Si are dating. Out with friends, she passes out and a DJ takes her to a hotel room. A photo of her and the DJ is posted at school. Si loses faith in her and allows the others to bully her again. He eventually realizes that he loves her and saves her.
When Lei returns home, Shan Cai finds it hard to ignore his strange new attitude. She and the F4 later go on a trip to Okinawa. The first night, Shan Cai finds Lei on the beach and comforts. She returns the next night and Si sees them hugging. Feeling betrayed, he punches Lei and tells Shan Cai never to speak to him.
Si's sister Dao Ming Zhuang comes to settle his first love troubles. She suggests a basketball match with Shan Cai and Lei's expulsion hanging in the balance. At the last second, Si ends the match. He later decides to go to New York. Lei tells Si that Shan Cai actually likes him just before he leaves.
Si quickly returns from New York and is now on good terms with Shan Cai again. Her family experiences financial troubles and she asks Si for a loan. She is later approached by a model scout, which is a trap. A delivery boy Xiao Shun saves her and helps her find a part-time job. Si becomes jealous, leading to another rift between him and Shan Cai.
Xiao Shun kidnaps Shan Cai and reveals that he has a grudge against Si. He comes to her rescue by allowing her kidnappers to beat him up. After being released from the hospital, Shan Cai struggles with how she feels about Si. He later invites her to his birthday party to introduce him to his mother.
Si's mother Dao Ming Feng immediately disapproves of Shan Cai. She attempts to bribe Shan Cai's parents with ten million dollars, which they refuse. Her next move is to introduce Si's fiancée, He Yuan Zi. Xiao Zi starts to like Si and asks Shan Cai for advice. Shan Cai starts to feel conflicted and eventually encourages Si to date Xiao Zi.
Xiao Zi continues asking Shan Cai for dating advice. It bothers Shan Cai but she does not say anything. Later, Xiao Zi and Si run into Shan Cai and Lei. Xiao Zi invites the two to her family's villa. There Si confesses that they cannot date anymore. The next day, Shan Cai's parents leave to go work as fishermen.
After being forced out of her apartment, Shan Cai starts working as a maid at Si's house. She later agrees to date Si on a trial basis. Her best friend Xiao You suggests for them to go on a double date. It ends in disaster when Si punches Xiao You's boyfriend.
Xiao You discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her. Xi Men sees her crying and helps her get revenge by publicly embarrassing her now ex-boyfriend. Later, the two of them trick Si and Shan Cai into going on a date. Later that night, they discover that Si's mother has returned to Taiwan.
Shan Cai finds out that Si's mother is behind her friends' financial woes. In order to return everything back to normal, Shan Cai breaks up with Si. She goes to live with her parents in the fishing village, where she meets Ah Song. Meanwhile, Si takes his grief out on his friends. They eventually focus on finding Shan Cai, instead of cheering up Si.
After Lei and Qing He find her, Shan Cai returns to Taipei. Si makes "clean break" of their relationship at Lei's suggestion. He comes to realize that he cannot give her up, when Lei tells him he plans to pursue Shan Cai. Lei is only pretending as he later tells Shan Cai that she will regret giving up Si.
Lei leaves to help his father in Japan. Later, Xiao Zi takes Shan Cai on a double date. They meet Qing Yong, who claims to be Si's cousin. When she mentions him to Si, he thinks she is avoiding talking about their relationship and gets mad. Qing Yong later reveals to Shan Cai that Si's mother hired him to seduce her and his real name is Ya Men.
Ya Men starts to pursue Shan Cai and tries to convince her to forget about Si. She later decides to take the chance with Si and they begin dating in secret. Meanwhile, Xiao You confesses her feelings to Xi Men, but he coldly rebuffs her. She keeps trying and eventually secures a date.
Xiao You spends her last night in Taiwan with Xi Men, before her family moves to Canada. A few days later, Si is held captive by his mother, who is planning his wedding to Xiao Zi. Lei, Xi Men, and Mei Zuo attempt to free him to no avail. They later call Si's sister for help.
Zhuang arrives on the scene and criticizes her mother about her actions. Xiao Zi, meanwhile, asks Shan Cai to persuade Si to stop his hunger strike. She ends up following his methods and waits outside for him in the rain. After thinking over the situation, Si's mother leaves and calls off the wedding. Si and Shan Cai then begin dating again.
